first post of the new year

I've not posted on here for a long time.  The last time I posted I was working on my
Christmas projects so I could finish them before we went on our holiday to the USA
to see my family.  Well I did finish everything I wanted to make :) I made 3 diaper bags,
a craft apron, small pillow, 2 travel doll houses, 2 dinosaur mats and 2 busy books.
The diaper bags I showed off in this earlier post.  Three of our Texas nieces got those
with 3 dolls I made :)

We've got a little nephew in Texas who loves crafts! :) so we got him a big plastic box
and filled it with all sort of crafty bits and I made him a craft apron :)  I got the pattern from
here.  I changed it a little bit though.  I didn't make the neck strap the same and I added a
felt pocket in the middle of mine.  I made little shapes out of felt and glued them on.  I had
seen this one and I liked the words on that apron so I embroidered them on mine.
   Here it is!

Two of our nieces got the travel doll houses I made.  I wrote about them in several posts.  This
is the post showing one of the finished houses :) They were both mostly the same except for the
color of a few things and the little dolls hair color.

Two other nephews got some dinosaur mats :D They were fun to make :) I got inspiration
from a lot of pictures I saw on pinterest some of my favorite ones were these:

This was mine :)

I also made a pouch to put it in :)
My favorite part of this project was making the volcano!

I think it looked really good :D I made it with a bunch of scraps of brown felt
all glued together :)

The busy books I made were for one little niece in Texas and for Lilah-Mai, our little niece
here in the UK.
I've made a total of 4 busy books aka quiet books.  I made 2 last year and 2 this year.  Those
are very fun to make but they are projects that take a whole post for themselves :D So I'll show
you and tell you about them in another post soon :)

It was fun going to see the family in Texas and eating all the things :D Three weeks went by
too fast.  We came back home to our lovely cat and our beautiful Christmas tree that we put up
before we left on holiday :)
We got the train in Texas :)

Now it's back to normality.  I have some projects in a queue :)  I want to make a weighted doll.
I've made my own pattern for this and can't wait to try it out.  I also have 2 quilts to make, a
baby dress for our newest baby niece born just today in Texas :)  I also am going to make a puffy
sleeve dress for our baby niece Dezi.  She's just turned 2 :)
I made one of these dresses for miss Lilah-Mai with a hair bow too :) I used a pattern I got here.
She's got a very good tutorial with pictures.
Here she is!

What am I waiting for you might be asking.  Why are my projects waiting in a queue you ask.
Well I am waiting for my new sewing machine.  I've been waiting since I ordered it on the 2nd.
There was a mix up with my bank and them but it got fixed and on Monday they said it would be
sent.  I would have it within 1 to 4 business days.  Tomorrow is day 4.  If it doesn't come
I'll be calling and using my serious voice!

Hope everyone is doing good so far this new year :)

Sold a little house :)

I've started working on my travel doll house again.  I wasn't feeling too great for a while but I'm feeling ok now so I've started work on my projects again :)  This week I also sold a little house I had for sale on my Etsy page.  It was this one.  It's on its way to the USA to its new home :)
Today is Lilah-Mai day here so we will be spending time with her and going for a coffee.  After this I will spend some time on my second travel doll house.  I'm hoping to finish this house this weekend and then start work on some quiet books :) I made 2 of these last year for one of my baby nephews and one of my baby nieces :)  I want to make one for Lilah-Mai and another for miss Dezi :)  Quiet books, or busy books as I call them, are very fun to make.  I'll share pictures of the ones I made last year in another post soon.  Now off to start making lunch :D

Doll House 2 and a Doll

Today my wife and I watched tv and had yummy things to eat :D I did start work on my second doll house but only cut felt pieces for different parts of the house. I'll start putting things together tomorrow.
This is what I got done today.

I also wanted to share with yall another one of my Christmas presents I made last year.  This was for our baby niece Dezi.  I decided to make her a small Waldorf inspired doll.  The little doll was around 10 inches tall and was made with my own pattern.  I made her with brown eyes and brown hair like miss Dezi.  Her little dress was made with a simplicity pattern I already had.
Here she is!

Today I finished my first doll house so 1 down 1 to go :D  I put the rest of the little house together and put a little strap with a snap button to close it.  Here are some pictures of the finished product :)
Here is the little house all finished.

This is how it looks when you open it up. There is the little doll watching tv :D

Little Doll For The Take Along Fabric Doll House

Today I worked more on the little doll I made for the doll house.  I made her 2 dresses and some pjs.  It was all a bit difficult for me because it is miniature and i had to do hand sewing which as I've said before isn't my forte.  I did use one pattern I found for the pink dress I made.  I got it from here, Aux Petits Bonheurs de Sophie.  She's got a good tutorial with pictures on there.  The other dress and the pjs I just made it up as I went.  Tomorrow I want to put the rest of the house together and then I'll be done with house number one :)  Here are some pictures of what I got done today.

Continued Progress On Doll House

I took some pictures of what I did yesterday and today.  I'm happy with my progress so far :D  Yesterday I did the back of the house and added decoration to the front of the house.  I wanted the house to have a bit where there could be a picnic like in my Molly's house in this post, Little Fabric Doll House.  So I came up with a fold away garden bit with a picnic blanket. Today I put half of the house together with some decorative bias tape.  I also made the straps and put the little doll together.
The doll is about 5 inches tall :) I got the template for it from this page, diets.ru.  They have a good tutorial on there with pictures.  Links to examples of take along doll houses are in my take-along-fabric-doll-house post.  Tomorrow I'll make her some clothes and put the rest of the inside of the house together.  After that house number 1 will be done :D
Here are some pictures of my progress :)
This is the little doll :) I made her some under pants so she'd be ready for the picture :D
The front of the house with hedges, flower box and butterfly :) You can see the straps were added.
The back of the house with trees, bird house and hedges.
The hedges unbutton to reveal a garden in the backyard perfect for a picnic :)  The flowers were done with my BIGkick machine.
PB&J sandwiches and glasses of milk :)

Continuing With My Take Along Doll House

Well today I continued working on my doll house.  I got the bedroom finished and part of the outside of the front of the house :)  Tomorrow I'll finish the rest of the front of the house then work on the back.  I have an idea for the back of the house just hoping it'll work out :D
This is what I got done today.
This is the bedroom.  The wardrobe's doors open and it has a pocket inside for the little dolls clothes.  The little doll and its clothes are not done yet.  The doll will be able to get in the bed and I'm going to make it a teddy bear as well :)
This is the front of the house.  I still have a few more things to add to this.

Take Along Fabric Doll House

Today I worked on one of  my bag houses :)  Well they are actually called take along fabric doll houses or travel doll houses.  I made the living room, kitchen, bathroom and dining room.  It was a combination of machine sewing, hand sewing and glue gunning.  I think my favorite room so far is the kitchen.  I was able to embellish the kitchen a lot.  The fridge, cabinets and oven door open. you can put dishes in the sink and there is a bowl on the counter that you can put a spoon in.  There is food in the fridge that you can take out and the dishes in the cabinets can be taken out as well :)  Tomorrow I'm going to start on the bedroom and then work on the outside of the house :)
I love the idea of a take along house :)  It's kind of like the fabric house I made and showed in this post, Little Fabric Doll House.  I found a lot of inspiration for travel doll houses on google. Here are some of my favorite ones :)
Country Kitty - really lovely little travel doll house :)
pinterest picture - this is a picture of a bedroom for a take along house
craftjuice - cute take along house :)

We will see how I get on tomorrow with what's left to do on the house :)
Here are some pictures of what i did today :)
These are the dining room and the bathroom.

Another Fabric Doll House

After I made my lovely doll house I showed you in my Little Fabric Doll House post, I decided to give another kind of house a try.  I'd seen another type of doll house that I thought was cute and would be fun to make.  This is the site I got the tutorial from U.K. lass in U.S. :)  It is a very good clear tutorial with pictures.  I made mine with fabric, felt, batting and plastic canvas and I made a little couch and bed for it.  I got help to make the little couch from here Thatch Cottage.  It's a very nice, clear tutorial.  The little bed was just a sponge I covered in fabric with a pillow I made out of felt and a little blanket.  I used my handy dandy BIGkick machine to make the flowers and some of the other appliques I put around the house.  For this little house I decided to use a bendy rope doll.  I got mine from this shop little oke dolls.  To make the bendy rope doll into an actual doll, I used the tutorial here myrtle and eunice.  It's a good tutorial with pictures.  My bendy doll didn't have a head though, so I made my own Waldorf style head.  There is a good tutorial for making a mini doll head here Atelier Barbara.  I made my little doll into a fairy :) I gave her a pink and white dress and pink wings made of felt.  I also made a unicorn made of felt.  He was very fun to make and also a bit challenging as I am not the best at sewing by hand.  I used ever helpful google to help me find a template or tutorial to make a unicorn and I found this one, horse pattern.  The pattern came from this site Echoes of a Dream.  I can't seem to find the tutorial or the pattern on the page anymore but I might be looking in the wrong place.  I'll share some pictures of my doll house, Lily the Fairy and her unicorn Maximus :)  You can see more pictures on my FB pageEtsy page or my Pinterest :)

Little Fabric Doll House

After I had made the dolls I've showed you I decided to try something different.  I wanted to make something like what I'd found here Pretty Prudent.  I absolutely am in love with the idea of a dollhouse in a vintage suitcase :)  I don't have a vintage suitcase though :D So as it often happens when my mind is full to the brim with crafty ideas I couldn't sleep one night and an idea was born :D
I decided to go ahead and make my own flat doll house and put it together like a book :) It was massive fun to make :D  I used my sewing machine, my handy glue gun, my trusty BIGkick machine, a lot of felt squares and fabric, plus that sturdy interfacing stuff I don't know the name of sorry.  I'll put a picture of it here see if you can get an idea of what it is.

Each panel of my flat house was made with a felt square for one side, fabric for the other side and the sturdy interfacing in the middle to make it stiff.  I made a living room, kitchen, dance room, bedroom and a backyard.  The outside of the flat house I made to look like the front and back of a house and I made it some handles to make it easy to carry around.  I also made a Waldorf inspired mini doll named Molly :) and a little boy doll.  The house is decorated mostly with felt pieces either glued or sewn on.  Molly was 5 1/2 in. tall and made with my own pattern.  She had 4 outfits and the house accessories were 3 floor mats, a teddy bear, a picnic blanket, 2 plates, 2 pb&j sandwiches and 2 glasses of milk.  I'll share some pictures with you. :)

Molly's House
 This is Molly.
Front of Molly's house.
 Back of Molly's house.
Pouch I made for all the little accessories and the doll.

The first scene was the living room :)
2nd scene was the kitchen.
3rd was a ballet dance room.  I used shiny card to make the mirror :)
4th scene was the bedroom.  The wardrobe opens and it had a pouch for Molly's clothes and the little bear can be removed from its basket :)
Molly and bear tucked in bed :)
The last scene was the backyard.  This is Molly and her friend having a picnic :)
I made plates, pb&j sandwiches and glasses of milk for their picnic :)

I loved making this house and plan to make another one :) There is no tutorial to link you to because this was my idea and I did not write one.  I don't know that I would know how really :) It was fun sharing it here.
